The club may suit people arranging a get-together who value a welcoming setting, food at an event and an outdoor view. The available comments do not specify opening hours, billiards facilities, access to the bowling green or the terms for non-members, so those details are best checked directly before making a journey.
What Globe Bowling & Billiards Club Ltd offers
The visitor feedback points to two sides of the venue: a club associated with bowling and billiards, and a function space used for celebrations and group events. Reviewers describe parties, meetings and family occasions, with one attendee noting that the function room and bar are in separate rooms. Another praises the room’s decoration, while the outdoor deck and bowling-green setting may add an appealing feature when the weather is suitable.
Food has also been part of guests’ event experiences. One regular visitor reports that it has been good at gatherings, although the supplied information does not establish whether meals are available every day, what the current menu includes or whether catering can be arranged for all types of bookings. Anyone planning an event can ask about food options, drinks, room arrangements and what is included before confirming.
Those planning to book an event at a bowling club in Accrington should request current details for the intended date and group size. Published rates are not available in the information provided, so prices for function room hire in Accrington need to be confirmed directly. People comparing deals on event venues in Accrington can ask whether any current packages are offered, while checking carefully what each price covers.
Bowling, billiards and event facilities
A visitor specifically highlights the views from the floodlit bowling-green patio, giving the club a distinctive outdoor aspect. A separate account mentions decking outside the function room, though the group did not use it during a January party. These comments suggest that the outdoor spaces may be a welcome extra during suitable weather, but they do not establish when those areas are open or available for private use.
Although bowling and billiards are central to the club’s name, the supplied reviews do not describe the equipment, table numbers, playing arrangements, fees or whether advance booking is needed for a game. People searching for billiards in Accrington or a bowling green in Accrington should therefore confirm the current facilities and access rules rather than assume that every activity is available for drop-in visitors.
For events, the accounts offer a clearer picture: visitors have used the premises for parties, networking and family occasions, and a wake was also arranged there. The room, separate bar and outdoor areas may suit different kinds of gatherings, but details such as capacity, seating layout and event-specific services are not provided in the reviews and should be discussed when making an enquiry.
What visitors say about the experience
Positive comments describe helpful people, a warm welcome and a function room that guests find attractive. One person who had visited over several years for different events says the staff were accommodating and that the food was consistently good. Other visitors praise the venue for socialising and family occasions, while the floodlit bowling-green patio receives particular appreciation for its views. One winter visitor also notes that the venue was warm on a cold day.
There are also important concerns in two accounts. A family arranging a wake reported that the venue was closing because of a water problem and said guests were not informed by staff in time. Some elderly relatives reportedly reached the original location but could not get clear directions or help getting to the replacement venue. The family acknowledged that the water issue itself could not be helped, but found the communication especially upsetting during a sensitive occasion.
Another party organiser reported that certain drinks ran out early and that the venue ran out of change at about 9 p.m., leading to card-only payment when some guests had brought cash. The organiser helped by bringing in saved change and said the venue would still be considered for a future event, with a reminder to discuss the issue in advance. These are individual experiences rather than proof of current conditions, but they make clear why communication and event details matter.
Practical tips before visiting or arranging an event
Opening hours have not been provided, so visitors should confirm the current schedule before setting out. The same applies to casual bowling or billiards: checking availability, access arrangements and any booking requirements can prevent an unnecessary trip. The address is Dunny Shop Ave, Accrington BB5 0LW; parking and public transport details are not included in the available information, so those planning travel may want to check local options separately.
For parties, family occasions or meetings, an early enquiry gives organisers time to confirm room availability, layout, food and drink arrangements, and any costs. It is also sensible to ask what happens if a service interruption affects a booking, how guests will be notified of changes and how replacement arrangements will be shared. For a wake or another event where guests may be unfamiliar with the area, clear directions and a named contact can be particularly important.
Organisers may also wish to confirm the current drinks selection and whether payments can be made by cash, card or either method. The outdoor deck and patio could be attractive additions in fine weather, while the indoor room may be more suitable in colder months; one visitor specifically found the venue warm during winter. Families and groups have used the function room, but details about child-specific facilities, accessibility and room capacity are not available and should be checked directly.
